Both instruments perform dynamic image analysis under ISO 13322-2, use dual cameras, and support free-fall, air-jet, and wet-circulation dispersion modes. Differences emerge in measurement range, frame rate, dispersion control, and software compatibility.

The current model in the Camsizer family; measures 30 parameters across 0.9 µm – 8 mm. At 420 fps it images hundreds of thousands of particles within minutes. With an established install base, mature software, and 21 CFR Part 11 / LIMS support, it is particularly prevalent in pharma.

Common Questions

Frame rate determines the number of particles imaged per unit time. In free-fall mode, particles move relatively slowly, and manufacturer validation measurements report that 74 fps is sufficient for reliable results. In wet-circulation mode, the sample passes through the measurement zone repeatedly, so frame rate is not critical. In air-jet mode, however, particles travel very fast, and the X2+'s 420 fps is a concrete advantage. If your application is predominantly air-jet, let's evaluate this together.

Yes; both instruments measure sieve-correlated diameter (XCmin) and allow you to import existing sieve data for comparison, preserving continuity with your historical results. We recommend a correlation study on your critical samples before the transition — we carry this out as part of the demo.

The BeVision D3 series does not currently support 21 CFR Part 11 or LIMS connectivity; if this is mandatory for your GMP-regulated laboratory, the Camsizer X2+ is the stronger option today. We believe in stating this clearly. If your requirement is primarily technical performance rather than data-integrity compliance, the D3 Pro's range and parameter advantages come to the fore — contact us for roadmap updates.

For samples containing both fine and coarse fractions, a wide single-pass range matters. The D3 Pro covers 0.5 µm – 16 mm in free-fall without any hardware change; guide slots are adjusted from software. On the X2+, an optional shaft must be fitted for anything above 4 mm. In laboratories that frequently switch ranges, this difference has a tangible impact on daily workload.
